Instead of bolting the casino as I always do after a long day, I stood by the podium in the poker room with another dealer, James, and for 10 minutes after our shift we watched to make sure he had won. There are some things you definitely have to see before you can go on to other things. I believe this is not the only Gold that will adorn our athletes....
I was in the "cave" all by myself waiting and watching and hoping. After the Frenchman finished and the marks came up, I did a fist pump and let out a pretty big yell. Would have liked to have shared the moment with someone who was equally interested, but...all I did was scare the dog with my yell, and when I told my American wife, she just smiled and politely said "Oh...that's nice". NICE?? LOL...it was ******* AWESOME. Oh well...at least I enjoyed it!
In stark contrast to you other two commenters, I was at work, saw he had an amazing run and was in first place, then got distracted by something and completely forgot about it until you mentioned it on your FB status.
I stopped dealing to a 10/20 game as 9 of 10 players watched him win the medal. Too bad for the one guys session but life goes on and that was important part of any Canadians life.
