Important News About My Survivor And Amazing Race Recaps

Many of you know that I wear a lot of different hats. I work a full-time job, I work for a local University as their Athletics announcer, and I also work for our local affiliate of Rogers TV on-air for their broadcasts of Kitchener Rangers hockey games. Add in to that the responsibilities of being a dad to a 10-year-old son, and trying to be a good partner to my loving and supportive girlfriend, Devena...and there's not a lot of free time.

I do these recaps because they're fun for me, and because people enjoy reading them. From a tiny little side project, to something that garners between 10,000-15,000 hits/month, this site sure has grown and evolved to places I didn't really envision. I'm very, very thankful and grateful for that.

But I need a break.

Things are way to busy for me right now to be putting in the required effort for my recaps. Work is busy, home life is busy, and the Rangers playoffs are starting in 2 days, which will mean I have a show almost every other night for a seven-game playoff series. Plus, I was just on vacation and missed three recap nights (for Survivor and TAR), and after tonight, I was going to miss the next two episodes as well.

So, I'm sorry to say that I will be taking a temporary break from doing my recaps for Survivor and The Amazing Race. I watched last week's episode last night, and I really enjoyed just being able to sit and watch it...so that's what I'm going to do for the next little while.

I'm not sure how long...I may be back before the end of the season, but I will definitely be back at some point. Like I said, I just need a break.

Thank you to all of the loyal readers, I hope this doesn't change anything for you, and you'll still be back when I start recapping again. Please feel free to add me on Facebook or Twitter to keep in touch in the meantime.

See you soon.

Sean

so disappointed I won't be reading your take on the season, but you need to do what is best for you and your family and it sure does sound like your plate is overflowing! Looking forward to your return. In the mean time, I highly recommend the 'Bitchy Survivor Blog' for your readers. I read her last week for the first time and it made me laugh out loud a couple times!

I haven't been a follower that long but so far from what I've read I can say that your true followers will sit back and wait for your return. Family first!!
Enjoy the break and shows.
Thanks for what you've shared so far.

Your recaps were brilliant! I'm sure you will here this from a ton of people, but if you would like a writer to take over for a bit, I'd be honored!

Jill, I love The Bitchy Survivor Blog! I've had links on my sidebar to her Survivor and TAR blogs for over a year.

Chris, thanks for the offer, but it seems wrong to have someone else write "Sean's Random Thoughts" :)

Your blog and the Bitchy Survivor Blog are the two I read, Sean and I am sad that you won't be recapping the shows for a while- especially because Colette has refused to do TAR this season b/c of Brenchel and I don't know anyone else good who is recapping it.

I hope things look up for you and your family, things calm down, and you can come back soon.

I'll miss your recaps. The fact I could finish your show and immediately go to your recap was one of the biggest selling points, but I understand the tremendous amount of work you put into them.

P.S. This episode should simply have been titled "Karma."

Oh NO! This is the first thing I read the morning after the shows. It's always so well written. But I understand that family comes first, and that you need some time away. Just wanted you to know that I'll really miss you and this blog!

Good. Take a break. Focus on your son, maybe propose to your girlfriend? Good luck with work and everything.

I know all about the work involved - I run pools at work for TAR, Survivor and DWTS. I do recaps for all my pool entrants and a few times I've just not wanted to - it IS nice to just sit back and actually WATCH the show sometimes. Gonna miss your recaps but also looking forward to your return. Hope you had/have a great vacation!

You deserve a break; enjoy it! Thanks for the great effort you've put into the recaps.

Sorry to hear this news but totally understand. I've been following since LOST so I know how busy you've been.

While the recaps were still great, I could tell that you weren't engaging us as much as usual with followup posts and commentary and it wasn't exactly the same without that. I felt like a part of you was missing. Don't you hate it when life gets in the way?

I've sometimes felt pressed for time to simply comment here so I can imagine the great effort needed to put up the initial "Random Thoughts" week after week and to do it so quickly and so well.

With regards to Chris's comment, ever see the old sit-com "Taxi"? All the drivers would hang out at a bar/restaurant called "Mario's." In one episode, Jim Ignatowski (great, great character) buys the place and renames it "Jim's Mario's." Absolutely no offense to Chris but "Chris's Sean's Random Thoughts" doesn't have the same ring to it.

I've often posted that it feels like I am watching these shows with you and I will miss that so go recharge those batteries! Perhaps a visit to an isthmus would help?

Thanks for all your efforts. I'll be eagerly awaiting your return!

All the best, -JW.

Enjoy your break Sean, you haven't possibly got on Survivor have you and are using the break as an excuse. Surely Probst would want you on the show after all the shirt talk and he possibly reads this blog.

Will miss reading your recaps. Tried the other survivor bitchy blog but couldn't really get into it. Will eagerly await your return.

I am soooo bummed not to hear your take on all the "grab your balls" comments tonight! I can just imagine what you'd say! :)

Beth said...

Aww, Teachmichigan said it before I got to! If all of Jeff's "balls" comments can't bring you out of "retirement," I guess nothing can!

I wanted to hear what you had to say about Tarzan's mood swings!
Maybe next time then

Ahh, this latest episode reminded me of a year ago when Jeff said "everybody grab your balls, your safe" I soooo miss what you could have done with that comment.

Yeah, this past amazing race and troyzans comeback are all really interesting. I wouldve enjoyed hearing what you have had to say there. Do you like what troy's doing? Do you want the girls to break up?

ay ay ay
jusgt checking in to see if youre doing survivor 25. ill check in again when it airs. not that i was ever a loyal reader but you'd get so much hate on the comment section of dalton ross' recaps, tohos were the dyads... then i heard youre in retirement. now i hear hiatus. anyway, best of luck from your endeavors. enjoy 25 whether you recap or noit!
